Child Obesity (2008 – 2009)
This project is aimed at identifying where concentrations of overweight/obese middle school students live. It will be using 2008 – 2009 school year data and will map Middle School students by neighborhood and by school. The data sources used to complete this project will be the Austin ISD Student Demographic and FITNESSGRAM® data, the Austin Police Department Incident data (2009), the ESRI Select Business data 2008, and Capital Area Food Bank Distribution Site data.

Prenatal Care
This project is currently being re-scoped and expanded in order to answer the question of Where do the families live whose newborns are at the highest risk for poor health outcomes? The data sources used in this project are from Any Baby Can, Seton Family of Hospitals birth data, St. David’s Healthcare birth data, Capital Metro transportation routes, Travis County Healthcare District facilities data.

Student Achievement and Public/ Subsidized Housing
This project is being developed for a COH Charter member and will look at the  data of Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) students and how they compare with other students in the same neighborhoods but not in HACA facilities. The data sources for this project include  Austin ISD student data and The Housing Authority of the City of Austin residence data.

Access to Healthcare
This project was requested by COH Charter member, Central Health (formerly Travis County Healthcare District), in order to help them identify where their target population (un/underinsured). Once that phase is complete COH expects to expand this project in order to look at the entire un/underinsured population. The data sources for this current project are CommUnityCare NextGen data, and Travis County Healthcare District Facilities data. Once the project is expanded, new data sources will be discussed and acquired to better serve the expanded project.

Child Trauma Involving Motor Vehicle Collisions
This project is aimed at identifying neighborhood concentrations of children who receive traumatic injuries due to motor vehicle collisions. The data used in this project comes from the Dell Children’s Medical Center Trauma Department and Austin Police Department Collision Data.
